Cody Rhodes Drops Subtle AEW Reference in WWE Video

Cody Rhodes, the American Nightmare, has recently made headlines by dropping a subtle reference to his time with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) during a WWE video. While he did not directly mention the promotion, his choice of words hinted at his past with the company.

Rhodes was a key figure in the early days of AEW, where he had a successful run from 2019 to 2022. During his time with the promotion, he engaged in memorable feuds and held the TNT Championship multiple times. However, his journey with AEW came to an end when he decided to return to WWE in pursuit of the elusive WWE Championship, a title that has a storied history in his family.

In a teaser for WrestleMania 42 released by WWE on social media, Rhodes was featured alongside CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Brock Lesnar sitting at a poker table. The focus of the video was on Rhodes as he reflected on his recent experiences. He spoke about facing setbacks, taking risks, and ultimately finding success at the top of the wrestling world.

One notable moment in the video was when Rhodes used the phrase “All In,” a term commonly associated with poker but also a nod to AEW. “All In” was the name of one of AEW’s biggest pay-per-view events, which Rhodes played a significant role in creating. By incorporating this reference, Rhodes subtly acknowledged his past with AEW without explicitly mentioning the promotion.

Despite his departure from AEW, Rhodes remains a prominent figure in the promotion’s history. The recent release of AEW’s book, “This Book is All Elite,” showcases his contributions to the company’s early days and highlights his role in shaping its foundation. Even though he is now with WWE, Rhodes is still heavily featured in the book, underscoring his lasting impact on AEW.

In addition to Rhodes, CM Punk is also prominently mentioned in the AEW book, indicating that the promotion values its history and the contributions of its past stars. Both Rhodes and Punk were celebrated during Dynamite’s 6th anniversary show, further cementing their legacies within AEW.

As Rhodes continues his journey in WWE, fans can look back on his time with AEW with fondness and appreciation for the role he played in shaping the promotion’s early success. Whether in WWE or AEW, Cody Rhodes’ legacy in the world of professional wrestling remains undeniable.
