KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The top two seeds in the Big 12 women’s basketball tournament have advanced to the semifinals.

However, the unexpected teams making a splash are Zyanna Walker’s current team at Colorado and her former team at Kansas State.

“Oh man, it’s March; anything can happen,” said Walker, a junior guard, after assisting the Buffaloes in upsetting No. 20 Baylor with a final score of 62-53 at the T-Mobile Center on Friday night. “It’s March. The great teams will shine, and every team will fight. Everyone is fighting for a shot at something special. We are, and I’m sure the Kansas State Wildcats are as well. Anything can happen.”

The Buffaloes (22-10) dominated Baylor (24-8) early in the quarterfinals and managed to secure a spot in the semifinals against West Virginia.

CU’s head coach JR Payne expressed pride in the team’s performance, emphasizing their preparation and excitement for the challenge. The victory over Baylor also bolstered their NCAA Tournament resume.
