A heroic concealed carry license holder stepped in to stop a violent robbery in the West Loop on Tuesday morning, firing shots at two armed suspects who fled the scene. The incident took place around 8:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Hubbard Street.
According to police reports, a 38-year-old woman was outside when two armed men approached her, demanded her belongings, and proceeded to pistol-whip her before taking her possessions. However, a 41-year-old man who possessed a concealed carry license witnessed the robbery and decided to intervene. The man confronted the armed robbers, who then pointed their guns at him. In response, the licensed individual drew his own weapon and fired shots at the suspects. Fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire.
The perpetrators managed to escape in a black Lexus sedan with stolen New Jersey license plates, heading northbound. The victim declined medical assistance, and there were no other reported injuries in the incident. Chicago Police Department did not release a detailed description of the robbers.
This act of bravery by the concealed carry license holder highlights the importance of responsible gun ownership and the potential role that armed citizens can play in deterring crime. It also serves as a reminder of the risks and dangers that individuals face in urban environments.
