Investors in Rigetti Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:RGTI) were met with disappointment on Monday as the company’s share prices dropped by 8.27 percent to close at $23.45 per share. This decline mirrored a general sense of pessimism in the market following the holiday season rush.

The lackluster performance of Rigetti Computing was exacerbated by a lack of positive developments to entice investors to buy. In fact, many investors opted to unload their portfolios amidst the company’s struggles.

Last month, Rigetti Computing reported its earnings for the third quarter of the year, revealing a widening net loss of $200.97 million, a stark contrast to the $14.8 million loss in the same period the previous year. Revenues also saw a decline, dropping by 18 percent to $1.9 million from $2.38 million year-on-year.

Despite these disappointing results, Rigetti Computing remains optimistic about its future prospects. The company highlighted strong momentum in demand for on-premises quantum computers and collaborations on research and developments in the past quarter.

On the technology front, Rigetti Computing is on track to deploy a 150+ qubit system by the end of 2026, with an anticipated 99.7 percent median two-qubit gate fidelity. Additionally, the company aims to launch a 1,000+ qubit system with an expected median two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.8 percent by 2027.

While Rigetti Computing shows promise as an investment, some analysts believe that other AI stocks may offer greater potential for higher returns with limited downside risk. For investors seeking opportunities in the AI sector, exploring alternative options may be beneficial.

In conclusion, Rigetti Computing’s recent struggles highlight the challenges facing the company in a competitive market environment. Despite its setbacks, the company remains focused on technological advancements and innovation in the quantum computing space.
