Concealed Carry Holder Shoots Teenager Breaking into Car in Roseland

In the early hours of Monday morning, a concealed carry holder in Roseland shot a 17-year-old boy who was attempting to break into his car, as reported by Chicago police.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire and a car alarm going off in the 9400 block of South Indiana Avenue around 3:43 a.m. A woman later called to inform the police that her boyfriend had shot someone trying to steal their car.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the 17-year-old suspect with gunshot wounds to his right forearm and left knee. Officers administered first aid to control the bleeding before the teenager was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

According to the police, the 58-year-old car owner heard the car alarm and went outside to investigate. He found two individuals inside his white Honda Accord, with one of them brandishing a gun. The car owner, who possessed a valid FOID and concealed carry license, fired his weapon in response.

The second suspect fled east and entered a gray Dodge Caravan, which then drove away east on 94th Street, according to authorities.
