Man Robbed at Gunpoint on Granville Red Line Platform, Suspects Arrested

Last night, Chicago police apprehended four suspects following a robbery at gunpoint on the Granville Red Line platform. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was waiting for a train when a group of individuals approached him around 11:51 p.m. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s belongings, which he surrendered.

Shortly after the incident, responding officers encountered a group matching the suspects’ descriptions near Devon and Sheridan. A pursuit ensued, leading to the apprehension of the suspects at the Loyola Red Line station. Police also recovered a weapon at the scene.

Currently, charges are pending against the suspects, as confirmed by a CPD spokesperson. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by state lawmakers to enhance public safety on the CTA and other transit systems in Chicago, as crime rates on public transportation remain elevated compared to pre-pandemic levels.
