Chicago police detectives have released surveillance images of four individuals allegedly involved in a shooting outside Wrigley Field last month. The incident took place on May 15, 2025, when witnesses reported that two groups of people in their teens or early 20s engaged in a confrontation at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield. The altercation quickly escalated when two males began shooting at each other.

One of the bullets fired by a gunman on the north side of Waveland struck a 26-year-old man in the left arm as he stood across the street outside Murphy’s Bleachers. Police found at least 15 shell casings near a parking lot on the north side of Waveland Avenue. Despite officers detaining a suspect at the Wilson Red Line station shortly after the incident, he was later released without charges.

The Chicago Police Department hopes that the release of CTA surveillance images showing the four males allegedly involved in discharging a firearm will lead to a breakthrough in the case. The individuals are described as Hispanic males, aged 15 to 17. Area Three detectives are leading the investigation and can be reached at 312-744-8261 regarding case #JJ-256188.

This incident highlights the ongoing public safety concerns in the Wrigleyville area and serves as a reminder of the need for increased vigilance and community cooperation to prevent such violence. Anyone with information about the suspects or the shooting is urged to come forward and assist law enforcement in their efforts to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in the area.

Original reporting from CWBChicago provides detailed and accurate information on local public safety issues, offering better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. The platform was created in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccuracies in information provided at local Community Policing meetings. CWBChicago’s coverage has since expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas, while their mission remains focused on delivering original public safety reporting.
