A shocking case has come to light in the Chicago suburbs, where a United States Customs and Border Protection officer, Luis Uribe, has been indicted on federal civil rights charges. The allegations against Uribe include sexually assaulting and robbing multiple women in the area.

The indictment, which has recently been unsealed, charges Uribe with ten counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The 44-year-old officer, who resides in Pingree Grove, Illinois, was arrested and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keri L. Holleb Hotaling. During the arraignment, Uribe entered a not guilty plea, and a detention hearing has been scheduled for December 15.

Uribe, who performed customs and immigration duties for CBP in the Chicago area, allegedly used his authority to carry out the assaults and robberies. The indictment claims that he sexually assaulted and robbed two women, using a firearm during at least one of the assaults. Additionally, he is accused of robbing and attempting to assault two other women. The incidents are said to have taken place in Schaumburg and Naperville in 2022.

According to federal prosecutors, if convicted, Uribe could face a mandatory minimum of seven years in federal prison, with a maximum sentence of life. The seriousness of these charges underscores the importance of holding individuals in positions of authority accountable for their actions.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case or who believes they may be a victim of Uribe to contact a secure hotline at 312-239-7423. The hotline is available in both English and Chinese, ensuring that victims can come forward and seek justice.
