Days of Our Lives actress Linsey Godfrey is commending her co-star Suzanne Rogers for opening up about her battle with cancer and sharing her journey with the public.

Godfrey, 37, revealed in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the Peacock’s Days of Our Lives 60th anniversary event that she encouraged Rogers, 82, to be transparent about her recent diagnosis of stage II colorectal cancer. “If people don’t know, people won’t know. You’ll want people to know. You’ll find power in that,” Godfrey shared, emphasizing the importance of sharing one’s struggles and finding strength in overcoming them.

Rogers completed her cancer treatment in July and is set to resume filming this month. The veteran actress, known for her role as Maggie Horton on the soap opera, decided to go public with her diagnosis to inspire others facing similar challenges.

Godfrey expressed her admiration for Rogers’ courage in sharing her story, stating that the support and encouragement she received from her Days of Our Lives family were instrumental in her recovery.

Godfrey and co-star Paul Telfer also praised Rogers for her resilience and positive attitude throughout the challenging times. Telfer highlighted their strong bond with Rogers, describing her as not only a friend but also the best possible TV mother-in-law.

Reflecting on her own health journey, Godfrey, who battled Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006 and successfully went into remission in 2007, emphasized the importance of having a support system. Rogers echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the role of faith and close friendships in her recovery process.

“The prayers got me through it,” Rogers said. “My [Catholic] priest gave me a blessing the day before I started the chemo and radiation, and I think that helped with everything. I mean, I think that got me through it.”

As Days of our Lives continues to stream exclusively on Peacock, the cast members, including Godfrey and Rogers, serve as inspirations for viewers facing their own battles, reminding them that they are not alone in their struggles.

Rogers’ decision to share her cancer journey with the world serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience that can be found in openness and support from loved ones. Her story is a testament to the power of faith, friendship, and the unwavering spirit of the human heart.

Recent studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between physical health and mental well-being. It has long been understood that maintaining a healthy lifestyle can lead to improved physical health, but now research is revealing the impact that physical health can have on mental health.

One of the key findings from these studies is that regular exercise can significantly improve mental well-being. Exercise has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as improve overall mood and self-esteem. This is because physical activity releases endorphins, which are often referred to as the “feel-good” hormones. Endorphins help to reduce feelings of stress and pain, and can create a sense of euphoria that can last for hours after exercise.

In addition to the direct impact of exercise on mental health, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can also improve overall well-being. Eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and avoiding harmful substances like drugs and alcohol can all contribute to better mental health. When the body is properly nourished and rested, it is better equipped to deal with stress and anxiety.

Furthermore, physical health can also play a role in preventing mental health issues from developing in the first place. Studies have shown that individuals who are physically active are less likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety. This is because exercise can help to regulate hormones in the body, improve sleep quality, and reduce inflammation, all of which can contribute to better mental health.

Overall, the research is clear: taking care of your physical health is essential for maintaining good mental health. By incorporating regular exercise, a balanced diet, and healthy habits into your daily routine, you can significantly improve your overall well-being. So next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious, consider going for a run or hitting the gym – your mental health will thank you.
