Photographer Denis Cherim is a master of using light, shadows, and linear perspective to capture surprising and thought-provoking moments in everyday life. Based in Madrid, Cherim’s work is a blend of well-timed shots and subtle irony that reveal hidden narratives in the mundane. His ongoing series, The Coincidence Project, which he has been working on since 2012, showcases his talent for creating visual poetry out of ordinary scenes.

Using a digital camera, Cherim plays with lines, symmetry, and scale to create captivating images. Whether it’s the convergence of lines to form unexpected patterns or sunlight bouncing off surfaces in mesmerizing ways, his photos are a testament to his keen eye for detail. By manipulating perspective and juxtaposing different elements within a scene, Cherim crafts images that challenge viewers to see the world in a new light.

Recently, Cherim has returned to analog photography, experimenting with a newly launched Pentax 17 film camera. In just a short time, he has already shot over 50 rolls of film, exploring the unique qualities of this traditional medium. His work can be viewed on his website and followed on Instagram for regular updates on his latest projects.

From a sidewalk and fence angled to create a captivating perspective to a cloud seemingly nesting in a chainlink fence, Cherim’s images invite viewers to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Whether it’s a dog leaping over a wall or a shadow of a tree on a marble surface, each photograph tells a story that goes beyond the surface level.

Cherim’s ability to find beauty and intrigue in everyday moments is a testament to his artistic vision and creativity. Through his lens, he transforms the mundane into the extraordinary, encouraging us to look closer and appreciate the hidden wonders that surround us. As he continues to explore the intersection of light, shadows, and perspective, Denis Cherim’s work serves as a reminder that art can be found in the most unexpected places.
