Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ legal team is appealing for leniency ahead of his impending 14-month prison sentence related to two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

In a sentencing memorandum filed on September 22, which was reviewed by Us Weekly, Diddy’s attorneys petitioned Judge Arun Subramanian to consider a 14-month imprisonment followed by supervised release that includes mandatory drug treatment, individual therapy, and group therapy sessions.

The defense argued that their request for a 14-month sentence is “the only just and fair sentence for Mr. Combs,” claiming that the sentencing guidelines for his specific offenses typically range between six to twelve months.

The musician’s lawyers emphasized that he “has already faced significant consequences” by enduring 13 months in difficult conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since his arrest in September 2024. They highlighted the prison’s “constant suicide watch,” restricted access to clean water, and the provision of low-quality food that he has dealt with during his detention.

Moreover, Diddy’s attorneys highlighted his recent transformation, stating he “has embraced sobriety for the first time in 25 years,” is incident-free in prison, has no history of prior criminal behavior, and recognizes the detrimental impact of his actions on both his reputation and familial relationships. They also noted that he provides support for his seven children and elderly mother, who depend on him.

Accompanying Monday’s memorandum were numerous letters of support from Diddy’s family, including heartfelt pleas from his mother, Janice Combs. In her letter, Janice, 84, expressed the distressing impact of Diddy’s incarceration on her health and well-being, stating, “I don’t know how much longer I will be around, but I would love to see [Diddy] and his children together again.”

Court proceedings are set to continue, with Diddy facing sentencing on October 3 following his July conviction on two prostitution-related charges. He was acquitted of three counts, which included allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, maintaining his innocence since his arrest in September 2024.

Additionally, Judge Subramanian will convene a hearing on September 25 to deliberate Diddy’s motion for acquittal or the possibility of a new trial, which his legal team submitted late July.
