Margolis left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry, directing some of television’s most significant events over a career that spanned more than four decades.

Born into a family with ties to the entertainment industry, Margolis got his start in television by holding cue cards for his uncle, Monty Hall, on the iconic game show “Let’s Make a Deal.” His talent and passion for directing soon became evident as he went on to helm numerous prestigious events and specials for legendary entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Midler, and Cher.

His work was recognized with accolades such as two Directors Guild of America Awards for directing the Oscars and multiple Emmy nominations and wins for his exceptional direction of various award shows and specials.

One of his most notable achievements was his 16-year tenure as executive producer of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where he played a vital role in shaping the annual telecast into a celebration of the talented actors it honored. Margolis’s creative energy and expertise were evident in all his projects, from producing entertainment and reality series for television networks to directing live concerts and holiday specials.
