Don Cheadle expressed heartfelt admiration for his partner, Bridgid Coulter, during a recent event.
Prior to receiving an accolade at the HollyRod Foundation’s 2025 DesignCare Gala on Saturday, October 4, the couple, known for their privacy, revealed what they value most about one another.
“She excels as a mother, a wife, and an extraordinary entrepreneur and designer,” Cheadle, 60, told Us Weekly during an exclusive chat at NYA EAST in Los Angeles. “She truly embodies what it means to be a solid citizen, and our journey has spanned more than three decades together.”
The Crash and Hotel Rwanda star began his relationship with Coulter, 57, back in 1992 and they tied the knot discreetly during the pandemic in 2021.
Coulter clearly enjoyed her husband’s affectionate comments, but she brought humor into the conversation when questioned about her feelings for him.
She playfully responded, “He’s adorable. It’s all about his looks, but he’s definitely talented too!”

Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete presented Cheadle and Coulter with the Clarence & Jacqueline Avant Humanitarian Award at their charity’s gala. This recognition is designated for individuals whose dedication and compassion produce significant change.
While Cheadle serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, Coulter is committed to empowering women of color and fostering community through initiatives like the Blackboard Collective and Blackbird Alliance.
In June 2021, Cheadle confirmed his marriage during a segment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, mentioning that he sent a text to guest host Wanda Sykes breaking the news that came as a surprise to her.
The actor assured Sykes there were no hard feelings concerning her surprise.

“Yeah, it makes sense that she didn’t know. After being together for 28 years before marriage, it’s really no surprise,” the Oscar nominee quipped. “I bear no grudge.”
Although the couple — proud parents to adult children Tai and Imani — typically keep their relationship low-profile, Coulter recognized the significance of the Peete family’s charity event.
“Public outings are not really our thing,” she stated alongside her husband. “This occasion stands out because of the cause we support.”
The HollyRod Foundation focuses on providing essential support for individuals living with autism and Parkinson’s disease.
Holly and Rodney Peete’s son, RJ, received an autism diagnosis at just 3 years old, and today he is a thriving part of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Tragically, Holly’s father, Matt Robinson, passed away from Parkinson’s in 2002, while her brother currently battles early-onset Parkinson’s.
“We’ve been close friends with their family for some time and have always supported their initiatives,” Cheadle commented regarding Holly and Rodney’s work. “Their foundation is doing unique and vital work, and I’m proud to stand by them today.”
Coulter added, “Their commitment to autism and Parkinson’s advocacy is incredibly significant. We’ve had ties with Matt [Robinson] for years. It’s an honor to recognize the incredible work they’re doing here.”
