The Departure of Dr. Peter Attia from David Protein

On X, the founder of David Protein, a popular high-protein nutrition bar maker, made an announcement regarding the departure of longevity guru Dr. Peter Attia from his role as Chief Science Officer at David.

The announcement follows the release of over 1,700 documents, including email correspondence, that implicated Attia in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Attia, who served on the executive team of the food startup and was an early investor, decided to step down from his position.

Dr. Peter Attia is a renowned Canadian American physician known for his work in longevity and preventive health. His bestselling book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity” and his popular podcast have solidified his reputation in the field. Despite his recent involvement in the Epstein scandal, Attia has denied any criminal activity and expressed regret over the content of his emails with Epstein.

David Protein, a three-year-old company based in New York, experienced rapid growth after securing a $75 million Series A funding round led by Greenoaks and Valor Equity Partners. Their flagship protein bar, launched in September 2024, boasts 28 grams of protein, zero sugar, and 150 calories.

Following the fallout, it seems that Biograph, a healthcare testing and longevity startup co-founded by Attia, is also distancing itself from the physician. The company has removed references to Attia from its website, raising questions about his continued involvement with the startup.

Biograph, backed by investors like Vy Capital and Human Capital, offers premium preventive health services to subscribers. Attia’s absence from the company’s press releases and website indicates a shift in the company’s direction.
