In a recent showdown on television, Eric Trump decisively confronted Chris Cuomo, the former CNN anchor, over the unabashed politicization of federal power by the Biden administration against political adversaries, notably his father, Donald Trump.
The debate ignited when Cuomo challenged Eric on the fairness of alleging that the current government was systematically targeting political rivals.
Chris Cuomo: “Do you think that it is fair to say it looks like the administration is going after its political opponents now and doing exactly what you say you oppose?”
This question triggered an intense response from Eric Trump, who not only called out Cuomo for his perceived hypocrisy but also reminded him of the relentless scrutiny and aggression they both faced from the same entrenched political forces.
Eric Trump: “What? Comey? Because it seemed very clear to me in the Congressional testimony — I don’t know, just watching it — it certainly seemed like he lied to me. I’m also wondering what an FBI director is doing taking memos from the FBI and leaking them to The New York Times.
I mean, I’d hope the FBI director would be focusing on preventing planes from flying into buildings and ensuring our country’s safety, rather than communicating with The New York Times daily.
It’s strikingly ironic for you, Chris, to push back on government weaponization when the very individuals who targeted us were also relentless in their pursuit of your brother, seeking to undermine his governorship and his very existence.
I sat in that same seat, with one key distinction; my last name wasn’t Cuomo, it was Trump. They were after my father — aiming to obliterate our family and the Trump Organization.
They sought to seize our assets, to erase our name from every building in New York City. You’ve faced the wrath of the same political forces, and playing coy about the situation seems both ironic and naive, considering your own experiences.
After Cuomo attempted a defensive rebuttal, Eric unleashed a powerful three-minute monologue detailing what he perceived as blatant contradictions in Cuomo’s assertions.
Chris Cuomo: “Hold on a second — what did you just say that you think I’m doing? I’m asking you questions about whether or not, if something is wrong, it is also wrong to do the same thing when you get back in power — which certainly happened the first time the administration took office. You went right after Biden.”
I don’t mean you — you weren’t part of the administration. I’ll address you in a moment in terms of the current situation. But if you think I’m being coy, then you underestimate me. I know what I’ve been through, and I’m suggesting what’s happening now resembles what was done to you. That’s the basis for my inquiry.”
Eric Trump: “Hey — did we raid Biden’s home? Did we attempt to bankrupt him? Did they come after us? Did we weaponize every AG and DA against Biden? Did we do that against Hunter Biden, who has a laptop filled with questionable content?
Did we fabricate a scandal about Biden? Did we try to dismantle his marriage? Was any of that credible?
Did we create narratives about him having secret servers in his basement communicating with the Kremlin? Did we work to remove him from ballots across multiple states?
Did we silence him on social media, preventing him from speaking out? Did we occupy the courtroom with daily proceedings against him — 91 felony counts that were all dismissed — to keep him from campaigning while attempting to ruin his life?”
