Elderly Former Ohio State University Professor Allegedly Commits Murder-Suicide Attempt Amidst Sextortion Scheme
An elderly former Ohio State University professor, James Hill, is at the center of a tragic incident where he allegedly murdered his wife, Mary Kathleen Hill, before attempting to take his own life and harming his dog. The shocking events unfolded after Hill was targeted in a $15,000 sextortion scheme by a woman he met on a dating app, according to police reports.
Reports suggest that the unidentified woman threatened to release nude photos of Hill unless he paid her $15,000 in Apple gift cards. Feeling trapped and with no way out, Hill resorted to extreme measures that led to the devastating outcome.
According to court documents, Hill stabbed his wife in the chest with a kitchen knife, apologized to her, and held her as she passed away. He then attempted to harm his dog, but the animal managed to escape. Subsequently, Hill deleted the compromising photos from his computer and inflicted a stab wound on himself in a failed suicide attempt.
Despite the tragic events, Hill is a retired music professor who was actively involved in an upcoming performance, as reported by ABC 6. The news of his involvement in such a heinous crime has left his colleagues and students in shock and disbelief.

One student, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed the collective sentiment among Hill’s acquaintances, stating, “There’s no joy in performing knowing this information. Everyone was shocked. Nobody could have seen this coming.”
James Hill has been charged with premeditated aggravated murder and is set to be arraigned on Wednesday as the investigation into the tragic incident continues.
