Former New England Patriots fullback Patrick Pass found himself in legal trouble after allegedly assaulting an elderly man at a gym in Rhode Island. The incident occurred at a Planet Fitness gym in North Providence, where Pass and the 82-year-old man got into a heated argument over exercise equipment. Pass reportedly shoved the victim to the floor, causing injuries to his back.

Court records reveal that Pass was charged with assaulting a man over 60 years of age causing bodily injury, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. He was granted $10,000 personal recognizance bail and ordered not to have any contact with the victim.

Pass, who was selected in the 2000 NFL Draft just one round after Tom Brady, enjoyed a successful career with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls. Over eight seasons in the NFL, he rushed for 526 yards, scoring three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. His career highlights include a 2005 season where he recorded 245 yards rushing and 227 yards receiving.

In 2007, Pass joined the New York Giants, playing one regular-season game for the team that went on to upset the Patriots in the Super Bowl. More recently, in 2023, Pass found himself in hot water as a coach with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League. He was suspended indefinitely by the league after a chaotic brawl during a game against the Arizona Rattlers, which saw players jumping into the stands.

Despite his suspension, Pass still holds the position of Director of Football Personnel Development with the Pirates. His next court appearance is scheduled for January, according to court records.

The incident involving Pass serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by former professional athletes transitioning into post-playing careers. It also highlights the importance of maintaining composure and resolving conflicts peacefully, especially in public settings.
