Former Bernie Sanders Advisers Launch New Democratic Consulting Firm

A pair of former Bernie Sanders advisers, Mark Longabaugh and Joe Caiazzo, have announced the opening of a new Democratic consulting firm for the 2028 presidential election. The new company, called 1788 Media, will be headquartered in Washington, D.C.

With Democrats looking to reorient themselves in the wake of the Trump era, Longabaugh and Caiazzo are focused on helping the party regain working-class voters. They aim to assist Democratic candidates in House, Senate, and gubernatorial races in the upcoming 2026 midterms, as well as the 2028 presidential primary.

The launch of 1788 Media signifies a shift in Democratic strategists, with a new generation of consultants seeking to make an impact. Following the closure of the top consulting firm Devine Mulvey Longabaugh, where Longabaugh was a partner, this new venture is poised to address the evolving needs of the party.

Longabaugh emphasized their commitment to supporting progressive candidates who can appeal to working-class voters. He acknowledged the Democratic Party’s struggle in the 2024 election and stressed the importance of economic progressive populists in winning over these crucial demographics.

Caiazzo echoed Longabaugh’s sentiments, stating that winning back working-class voters is essential for building a lasting Democratic majority. With their combined experience working on various political campaigns, including those of Sanders, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, and former Rep. Joe Kennedy, the duo is well-equipped to guide Democratic candidates to success.
