The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for an aggressive spending spree in 2026, according to owner Jerry Jones. After a disappointing 7-9-1 season that saw them miss the playoffs, Jones is determined to turn things around. Speaking at the NFL Combine, Jones outlined his plan for the upcoming free agency period.

“I could see us being aggressive in free agency,” Jones stated. “I would bet that we will spend more money in free agency than we have in the past. We’re gonna spend more money in the draft than normally you would spend.”

Jones emphasized that the defense is where they plan to make a significant investment. “That would be the area you would see me bust the budget,” he added.

Fans were quick to react to Jones’ comments, with some expressing optimism while others remained cautious. One fan noted, “It would be hard to spend less than they usually do…” while another fan praised Jones for his approach, saying, “let him cook, he’s been cooking lowkey.”

However, there were also skeptics among the fanbase. One fan pointed out, “Hard to really take his word for it when he’s said the same thing 3 years running. I’ll believe it when I see it.”

In a proactive move, the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens, signaling their commitment to keeping him in Dallas for the long term. Jones expressed confidence in reaching a long-term deal with Pickens, calling the tag a “very significant attaboy.”

Pickens, coming off a Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro season, led the Cowboys in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. The franchise tag is worth $27.3 million for one year if a long-term agreement is not reached by July 15.

Jones made it clear that Pickens is a crucial part of the team’s future plans, stating, “There’s no question… the Cowboys want George Pickens to be a part of our future.”

As the Cowboys gear up for a busy offseason, fans will be eagerly anticipating the team’s moves in free agency and the draft. With Jones at the helm, the expectations are high for a turnaround in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on the Cowboys’ offseason activities.
