The FBI team is expected to show significant concern for Missy Peregrym’s character, Maggie, following an unexpected tragedy.

In anticipation of the March 30 episode, Juliana Aidén Martinez shared insights with TV Insider on March 18, discussing the team’s reaction to Maggie’s return. She noted, “When you go through something as traumatic as losing a sister, you become attuned to each other’s emotional states. You sense when someone is burdened with something heavy.”

She added, “I believe the team is justifiably concerned, and everyone will have their own way of giving Maggie the space she needs. The priority is ensuring Maggie is okay.”

In the CBS show episode aired on Monday, March 16, serial slasher Ray DiStefano, played by Matthew Rauch, kidnapped Maggie’s sister, Erin, portrayed by Adrienne Rose Bengtsson. Despite Maggie’s efforts to rescue her sister, Erin was ultimately found dead in DiStefano’s truck.

The FBI series experienced major changes at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 TV season. Fans were left surprised when CBS announced the cancellation of its spinoffs FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted prior to their season finales.

Missy Peregrym, 43, expressed her thoughts to Deadline, saying, “Being part of a procedural show makes me wonder about its impact. Sometimes, it feels like we’re just showcasing humanity’s darker sides every week. What’s the purpose? What am I putting so much of my life into this for?”

Despite these concerns, Peregrym found relief in how the show addresses relevant issues on screen.

She explained, “What we’re doing is crucial because it shows how to move forward after loss. Everyone experiences deep emotions, and this allows for a portrayal of connection, relationship, intimacy, and growth. That’s why I do this. I hope it helps people feel seen and encourages them to keep going after such traumatic experiences.”

Since its premiere in 2018, FBI has focused on the operations of the New York City field office’s criminal division, tasked with ensuring the city’s safety.

Peregrym expressed optimism about the show’s future direction. “We’ve come so far. After this, what’s next? I’ve portrayed the same character for eight years, and we’re advancing. How do we help characters get back on their feet? We’re not a show where characters lounge around; we need to get back to work.”

She concluded, “At what point do we tackle the reality of the situation? We’re doing our best in the procedural format. Although it was daunting, exploring this new aspect of my character is intriguing. It feels like starting a new show, which might be a blessing.”

FBI airs on CBS every Monday at 9 p.m. ET.
