CHICAGO — The mystery surrounding the skeletal remains found next to the Kennedy Expressway in Bucktown on October 7 continues to baffle investigators.

Chicago police officers responding to the scene near Webster Avenue summoned state troopers around 12:25 p.m. on October 6.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an investigation into the remains, but the results, released recently, have left many unanswered questions.

According to the report, the medical examiner’s team confirmed that the remains were human. However, they were unable to determine the identity, cause of death, race, or gender of the individual. The case was ultimately classified as “undetermined.”

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.

Since then, our coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. Our mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with more context and detail than mainstream media outlets.
