A community in Florida is coming together to support a disabled veteran after his homeowners association (HOA) demanded he remove an American flag from a flagpole in his yard.
One must wonder what goes through the minds of those in the homeowners association. Who, in their right mind, instructs a disabled veteran to take down the very flag he defended at great personal cost? It seems rather disgraceful, to say the least.
To add insult to injury, the HOA has escalated the situation by filing a lawsuit.

Disabled veteran fights homeowners association lawsuit over flagpole in Florida yard
A disabled veteran in Volusia County, Florida, finds himself embroiled in a fierce battle with his homeowners association (HOA) concerning a flagpole erected in his yard.
As reported by Fox News affiliate WOFL-TV, the Countryside Villas PUD3 HOA has initiated legal action against the unnamed veteran, alleging he did not secure the necessary approvals prior to putting up the permanent structure.
Despite the legal turmoil, the community’s backing for the veteran has intensified, with neighbors condemning what they perceive as harassment and needless litigation.
“Leave the veteran alone. He hasn’t done anything wrong,” stated Frank Johnson, a fellow veteran, in an interview with the outlet. “He’s called me in tears over the harassment and bullying. He has served this country and paid his dues. They want to penalize him over a flagpole and some weeds? It’s just sad. Truly sad.”
The saga escalated further when the veteran stood his ground, resulting in $1,000 in fines. The HOA retaliated by launching a lawsuit demanding $8,000 and threatening to place a lien on his property.
With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis being a veteran himself, it may be prudent for concerned citizens to reach out to his office for intervention. Known for his staunch opposition to what some label as “woke nonsense,” he could prove to be a significant ally in this unfolding drama. Perhaps it’s time to shine a spotlight on the HOA members and their questionable priorities.
