Man from Venezuela Arrested for Robbery at North Side Red Line Station

A 20-year-old man from Venezuela, Josue Rada, also known as Crismardin Hernandez, is currently in custody for his alleged involvement in a violent armed robbery at a North Side Red Line station. Police suspect that all four individuals involved in the robbery are former Senn High School students.

The incident took place in the early hours of July 12 at the North-Clybourn station, where a 24-year-old victim, who works as a busboy and street vendor in downtown Chicago, was targeted. The victim had just finished his shift and was carrying approximately $1,500 in cash when he was attacked.

According to reports, the victim was verbally harassed by two individuals at the top of an escalator, who then stole his wallet, identification cards, passport, and cash. The victim was also physically assaulted by one of the perpetrators before they fled the scene.

Surveillance footage from the CTA captured the robbery, with one of the offenders brandishing a gun at the victim. The victim sustained a minor head injury and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, a Senn High School employee identified all four suspects as former students of the school. Josue Rada, also known as Crismardin Hernandez, was identified as the individual who displayed the gun during the robbery.

Rada was apprehended by police after responding to a call regarding his juvenile brother, who was also arrested in connection with the case. He has been charged with armed robbery and is currently detained pending further legal proceedings.

Additionally, a 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the CTA robbery and a carjacking in Edgewater. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed as more information comes to light.

Authorities have not released the names of the other suspects involved in the robbery at the North Side Red Line station.
