On Thursday night, a tragic incident unfolded in the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago as three men were shot while sitting inside a pickup truck in a fast-food restaurant parking lot. The shooting, which witnesses believe to be gang-related, resulted in one fatality and two others sustaining serious injuries.

Chicago police responded to a call of a person shot at around 10:32 p.m. and discovered two victims inside a Dodge Ram pickup truck parked at KFC on 5852 South Western Avenue. According to reports, a gunman approached the truck, brandished a firearm, and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

A 19-year-old man tragically lost his life after being shot multiple times, while a 22-year-old man was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition with gunshot wounds to his stomach and back. Additionally, a 41-year-old man who had been in the pickup truck left the scene on foot and was later found at a nearby coffee shop with a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

Witnesses recounted hearing gang members shouting slurs before the shooting occurred. Some witnesses claimed that up to four masked men escaped the scene in a white Volkswagen SUV with temporary plates, heading east on 59th Street. As of now, no arrests have been made, and detectives are actively investigating the incident.

This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of gang violence in Chicago. The loss of life and injuries sustained in this shooting highlight the urgent need for community efforts to address and prevent such senseless acts of violence.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. As the investigation continues, we urge anyone with information to come forward and assist law enforcement in bringing those responsible to justice.
