The popular BBC comedy series ‘Ghosts’ is set to make a return, this time as a feature film titled ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House’. The movie will be directed by Simon Hynd and written by the original TV series creators, promising new adventures with the beloved ghosts.

The film is written by Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond, the talented writers behind the original Ghosts TV series. Simon Hynd, known for his work on Ghosts, Motherland, and Can You Keep a Secret?, will be taking the helm as the director for the film.

The decision to turn the popular TV series into a feature film follows a trend in the industry, with successful shows like Downton Abbey and Peaky Blinders also making the leap to the big screen. Fans can expect the same quirky humor and ghostly shenanigans that made the series a hit.

While the BBC has not announced an official release date for the Ghosts film, filming is set to begin in March 2026. Based on the production timeline, it is likely that the movie will be released in 2027.

As for the plot of the film, details are still under wraps. However, fans can speculate that the story may explore the era after Button House is transformed into a luxury hotel. This could lead to a comedic mix of The Shining and The White Lotus, adding a new dimension to the beloved characters and their ghostly adventures.

The main cast members, including Charlotte Ritchie as Alison Cooper and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as Mike Cooper, are set to reprise their roles in the film. Lolly Adefope will also return as Kitty Higham, the ghost of the Georgian noblewoman.
