Gia Giudice recently shared a rather memorable intersection between her reality television fame and her sorority life.
In an episode of iHeartRadio’s “Dirty Rush: The Truth About Sorority Life” podcast that aired on Saturday, September 20, the 24-year-old recounted the moment she found herself in a sorority standards meeting after a vocal altercation between her mother, Teresa Giudice, and fellow cast member Jackie Goldschneider, which gained notorious traction online.
“My mom and Jackie were in a heated argument. It escalated when Jackie, in a desperate analogy, compared my mom’s situation to hearing a rumor about me: ‘That’s like me saying Gia snorts coke in the bathroom at parties.’ Naturally, my mother lost it,” Gia explained, highlighting how the situation spiraled out of control. “It was a ridiculously outlandish comment to make, even if it was meant to be an analogy.”
The fallout was swift; as the bickering went viral, Gia received an invitation to a standards meeting during her junior year of college, where members of her sorority pressed her on the topic of drug use.
“As I sat on that Zoom call, trying to maintain composure, they asked, ‘Gia, with all the tabloids and Bravo footage circulating, do you use cocaine?’” recalled Gia. “I quickly said, ‘No, I do not do coke.’ They could see how little I cared for their line of questioning and how frustrated I felt, and thankfully, that seemed to end the discussion.”
Despite the brevity of the encounter, Gia found it to be a needless annoyance. “Everyone in my sorority knew that I didn’t partake in drugs. This question was utterly ridiculous, and the fact that I was called in for it felt unnecessary.”
On the “Dirty Rush” podcast, Gia collaborates weekly with Daisy Kent from Bachelor Nation and Jen Fessler, a fellow star from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, to demystify sorority life.
Gia explained that the sorority standards committee operates as a sort of “government” governing the sorority, ensuring order is maintained. Now that she has graduated and is venturing into new opportunities—such as her role in the upcoming season of Special Forces—she still considers the incident involving the standards team a “very immature move.”
“They must have been feeling quite self-important for that brief moment, and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way,” Gia reflected. “That was the only instance I was called to standards, and I was so distressed that I even reached out to Jackie afterwards.”
Interestingly, Jackie, 48, expressed her remorse, clarifying that she never intended for their televised spat to impact anyone else’s college journey. “She genuinely didn’t want that to happen to me,” Gia emphasized, suggesting that any animosity between them has since been resolved. “Now, Jackie and I are on good terms, and everything is fine.”
