Gianna Jun is set to lead an all-star cast in the upcoming Korean spy thriller series, “Tempest,” which will be available on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the U.S.

The plot of the nine-part series revolves around a complex multinational conspiracy that poses a threat to stability on the Korean Peninsula following an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate.

Jun, best known for her roles in “My Love From The Star” and “Kingdom,” portrays Seo Munju, a former diplomat turned UN ambassador with exceptional investigative skills. As she delves into the assassination attempt on the candidate, Munju uncovers a web of deception, state secrets, and more.

Joining Jun in the cast is Gang Dongwon, who plays Paik Sanho, a skilled mercenary with a mysterious past tasked with protecting Munju as she navigates through the intricate conspiracy that reaches all the way to the White House.

The international ensemble also includes John Cho as assistant secretary of state Anderson, Michael Gaston as secretary of defense Eagleton, and Spencer Garrett as President Houser. Christopher Gorham portrays Ethan, another key player in the series.

On the Korean side, Lee Misook takes on the role of Lim Okseon, while Park Haejoon plays presidential candidate Jang Junik.

“Tempest” is directed by Kim Heewon, known for his work on “Queen of Tears” and “Vincenzo,” with co-direction by martial arts specialist Heo Myeonghaeng. The series is written by Chung Seokyung.

The production is a collaboration between Imaginus, Showrunners, AA, and Skydance.

Fans can mark their calendars for the premiere of “Tempest” on Sept. 10, with a three-episode debut followed by two episodes weekly until the gripping two-part finale on Oct. 1.
