Goldman Sachs (GS) earnings Q4 2024

Goldman Sachs is set to release its fourth-quarter earnings before the opening bell on Wednesday, and Wall Street analysts are eagerly anticipating the results. According to LSEG, the financial giant is expected to report earnings of $8.22 per share and revenue of $12.39 billion. Additionally, trading revenue is projected to be strong, with fixed income expected to reach $2.45 billion and equities at $3 billion.

The optimism surrounding Goldman Sachs is driven by a resurgence in Wall Street deals. The bank’s shares surged nearly 50% last year, outperforming its competitors, thanks to the Federal Reserve’s easing policies and the election of Donald Trump. These factors have fueled expectations for increased mergers and stock transactions.

The upcoming fourth-quarter results will provide insight into what lies ahead for Goldman Sachs in the coming year. Investment banking and trading fees are forecasted to grow by double-digit percentages, reflecting a robust performance in the industry. Investment banking revenue surged 29% in the quarter, driven by heightened advisory and equity capital markets activity.

Moreover, the strong performance of the stock market towards the end of last year is expected to bolster results in Goldman Sachs’ asset and wealth management division. CEO David Solomon has highlighted this division as the firm’s growth engine.

For Solomon, the current environment is a stark contrast from a year ago when the firm faced challenges following a strategic shift away from consumer finance. At that time, Solomon was under pressure to address losses tied to consumer finance and navigate a tough market environment characterized by rising rates and regulatory scrutiny.

In addition to Goldman Sachs, other major banks including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Morgan Stanley are also scheduled to report earnings this week. The financial sector’s performance will be closely watched as it provides a barometer for the broader economy.

As the story continues to unfold, investors and analysts eagerly await the latest updates. Stay tuned for more developments on this evolving narrative.
