Hari & Deepti, a talented husband-and-wife duo, have been captivating audiences with their mesmerizing paper cut sculptures illuminated by a soft, yellow light. Since 2010, they have been exploring the possibilities of working with white paper to create intricate narratives inspired by fairytales and mythology.

The artists describe paper as “brutal in its simplicity,” emphasizing its versatility as a material that can be molded, carved, sculpted, and cut. Their creations exude a sense of memory, resilience, and silence, capturing the essence of their enchanting storytelling.

Their latest collection, “All That Glitters Is Gold,” showcases a series of light boxes featuring tiny figures skating and gathering in lush forest scenes. Each piece is a testament to the connections we carry as humans, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world of wonder and imagination.

Currently on display at Nucleus in Portland, Oregon, “All That Glitters Is Gold” invites visitors to experience the magic of Hari & Deepti’s intricate paper cut sculptures until January 11. For those unable to visit in person, the artists’ work can be explored further on their website and Instagram.

From the detailed scenes of “Tales The Wind Told Us” to the intricate patterns of “The Dust That Measures All Our Time,” Hari & Deepti’s creations transport viewers to a world where fantasy and reality intertwine. Each piece is a testament to the artists’ skill and dedication to their craft, showcasing the beauty and complexity of paper as a medium for storytelling.

As you explore their stunning creations, you’ll be drawn into a world where tiny figures navigate vast landscapes, inviting you to reflect on the stories that shape our lives. Hari & Deepti’s work is a testament to the power of art to inspire, enchant, and connect us to the beauty of the world around us.
