Overview
- Honor MagicPad 3 Pro bears a striking resemblance to the Ultra model
- Honor Watch 5 Pro boasts a sharp eSIM-enabled smartwatch
- Currently available only in China
The recently launched Honor MagicPad 3 Pro tablet and the Watch 5 Pro smartwatch have debuted in China.
In addition to unveiling the new Honor Magic 8 flagship smartphone series, Honor has introduced fresh tablet and smartwatch options.
The MagicPad 3 Pro slots above the Honor MagicPad 3, which we evaluated in August. It features the same 13.3-inch 3200 x 2136 LCD with a high-refresh 165Hz rate.
However, it is powered by a significantly more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, two generations ahead of the standard MagicPad 3’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Honor
It comes with options for either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, as well as 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.
A substantial 12,450 mAh battery powers the device, similar to the regular Honor MagicPad 3, supporting 66W charging.
The camera setup remains unchanged, featuring a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 9MP front camera.
Honor
It has identical dimensions of 293.88 x 201.38 x 5.79mm and weighs 595g. The overall aesthetics closely mirror its non-Pro counterpart.
The MagicPad 3 Pro presents an interesting option as a more economical alternative to the iPad Air, featuring a larger display, similar design, and competitive specs.
Pricing is set to begin at ¥3,799, which is approximately £400. Anticipate a higher price upon its release in Western markets, although it is expected to compete with the iPad Air’s price point of £599.
Honor Watch 5 Pro
On the other hand, the Honor Watch 5 Pro fits under the Honor Watch 5 Ultra that we mentioned earlier this year, and it may very well offer a more affordable option compared to the Apple Watch 11.
This model features a 1.5-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466, encased in a body measuring 46.3 x 46.3 x 11.3mm and weighing 51.1g, boasting a traditional (non-octagonal) watch design. It’s waterproof up to 5ATM and carries an IP68/IP69 rating.
Honor
The Watch 5 Pro comes with a 515mAh battery that claims to last around three days under normal usage.
Equipped with eSIM support, it allows users to make calls without a connected phone and features enhanced satellite tracking capabilities (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS).
Honor
In addition to standard sensors, it is equipped with a heart rate monitor, barometric pressure sensor, ECG sensor, and a geomagnetic sensor.
The pricing for the eSIM variant of the watch is set at ¥1,699, approximately translating to £177. Like the tablet, it will likely see an increase in cost when it reaches international markets, yet it is expected to remain competitively priced against the £369 Apple Watch 11.
We will be on the lookout for announcements regarding global availability for both the Honor Watch 5 Pro and the Honor MagicPad 3 Pro.
