“Governor Hochul’s top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe and she is deeply committed to addressing gun violence in our communities,” the spokesperson said. “While we have made progress, there is much more work to be done and the Governor continues to work with lawmakers to pass common-sense gun safety legislation that will help get guns off the streets and save lives.”

But critics say the damage has already been done — and that the spike in juvenile crime is a ticking time bomb.

“The bottom line is that all of these individuals are going to commit crime in the future,” Lipetri said. “There is no way to get around it. They will continue to commit crimes and they will continue to be involved in shootings.”

One former cop who worked in the juvenile system said the problem is only getting worse.

“The Family Court in New York has been a disaster for years,” the ex-cop said. “Kids get arrested and they get released right away. There are no real consequences. They know they can get away with it.”

He added: “The system is broken and it’s going to get worse. There is no accountability. The kids know it and they exploit it. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed.”

With the juvenile system at a breaking point and young thugs roaming the streets with impunity, the future looks bleak — and residents are left wondering who will be the next victim of a system that has failed to protect them.

Governor Hochul’s top priority is the safety of New Yorkers, and she has worked with the legislature to increase funding to combat gun crimes, car thefts, and repeat offenders. Judges now have more discretion to set bail in a wider range of cases, further enhancing public safety in New York.

One concerning issue that law enforcement is facing is the rise of “Diablos de la 42,” a group of underaged individuals associated with the Venezuelan migrant gang Tren de Aragua. The NYPD has been monitoring their activities closely, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to address gang-related violence and criminal behavior.

The administration is committed to working with law enforcement and local officials to improve the criminal justice system and strengthen public safety measures across the state. However, there is a call for a comprehensive review of all stakeholders to identify opportunities for intervention and support for at-risk youth. It’s not just about incarceration but about saving these young individuals and guiding them towards a positive path in life.

Law enforcement sources emphasize the importance of reevaluating strategies and implementing proactive measures to prevent youth involvement in criminal activities. By addressing root causes and providing support systems, we can effectively address the underlying issues that contribute to delinquency among young individuals.

In conclusion, Governor Hochul’s administration is dedicated to enhancing public safety and addressing the challenges posed by criminal activities. Collaborative efforts, strategic interventions, and community support are essential in creating a safer environment for all New Yorkers.
