Roy Keane has issued a stark warning to Marcus Rashford as the Manchester United forward contemplates a potential exit from Old Trafford. Keane believes that Rashford has lost his focus and hunger, and a change of scenery may be necessary for the Englishman to rediscover his form.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Stick to Football, Keane expressed his concerns about Rashford’s current situation at Manchester United. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic and dedication to the game, suggesting that a move abroad could benefit Rashford both personally and professionally.
Keane stated, “If you lose that hunger, it’s hard to get it back. We know that for great players, it’s nothing to do with money – it’s about the next challenge, and your pride. Marcus seems to have lost his way, and he’s lost his hunger. We’ve mentioned watches and all the stuff off the field, and if he’s a bit distracted by that, it might be hard to get it back.”
Rashford’s absence from the Manchester Derby and the upcoming Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Tottenham has fueled speculation about his future at the club. In a recent interview with Henry Winter, Rashford hinted at a potential departure from Manchester United, emphasizing that he wants to leave on a positive note when the time comes.
He said, “If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”
Several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, have been linked with a move for Rashford. Additionally, Saudi Pro League sides have shown interest in acquiring the services of the talented English forward.
As Rashford contemplates his future, it remains to be seen whether a change of scenery will reignite his passion for the game and lead to a resurgence in form. Keane’s warning serves as a reminder of the importance of staying focused and committed to achieving success in the competitive world of professional football.
