From Lawful Operations to Unruly Protests: A Los Angeles Conundrum
What started as a routine operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spiraled into chaos in the so-called sanctuary city of Los Angeles. On Friday, ICE agents executed several raids targeting locations including a Home Depot, various fashion warehouses, clothing shops in downtown L.A., and a meat-packing facility in Paramount. Their goal? To apprehend undocumented immigrants, some of whom had prior criminal convictions.
The aftermath? A tumultuous scene unfolded as large crowds gathered, obstructing traffic, throwing bricks and concrete chunks, igniting trash fires, defacing federal buildings with graffiti, and even attacking federal vehicles.

Federal sources have identified some of the undocumented immigrants arrested in ICE’s Los Angeles operation, which ignited the protests. Among them are several gang members, convicted sex offenders, violent gun offenders, and drug offenders. Notably, one has already been deported. The list includes:
Rolando Veneracion-Enriquez, a Filipino national with prior convictions for sexual penetration with a foreign object, assault with intent to commit rape, and burglary in California.
Armando Ordaz, a Mexican national and known gang member with convictions for sexual battery, receiving stolen property, and theft in Los Angeles.
Victor Mendoza-Aguilar, a previously deported Mexican national and known gang member with convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Delfino Aguilar Martinez, a Mexican national with a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury in Los Angeles.

Speeches from Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass significantly influenced the situation, as their denunciations of ICE’s actions have served as rallying cries for the protestors. The city saw thousands of National Guard troops deployed, with active-duty Marines also on standby.
Officials from the Trump Administration, including Homeland Security Czar Tom Homan, have labeled the unrest as an “insurrection” fueled by radical Democrats who have “allowed lawlessness to fester” in sanctuary cities.
In response, federal authorities took a firm stance. President Trump authorized the deployment of 2,000 California National Guard troops under Title 10—a rarely invoked measure—and stationed Marines nearby.
Furthermore, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE made it clear that any attacks on federal officers would result in prosecution, irrespective of local officials’ political leanings.
In a dramatic turn, Nicole Shanahan, who was previously Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate, launched a scathing accusation against sanctuary cities and the so-called Deep State, echoing sentiments that resonate with many frustrated Americans.
I suspect a CIA/deep state influence here. Sanctuary cities like Los Angeles have strategically invited unpredictable and violent migrants to seek refuge and now appear to be using them to launch violent attacks against federal law enforcement officers.
They show no respect for our laws, exploit our social services, and wreak havoc on our cities. If we allow this madness to persist, it will be the future of all sanctuary cities.
“Foreigners who live in your land will gain more and more power, while you gradually lose yours. They will have money to lend you, but you will have none to lend them. In the end they will be your rulers” (Deut 28:43-45). These ancient words still ring true today.
Newsom and Bass seem to welcome this confrontation with Trump, willing to sacrifice a city in turmoil for political gain. Meanwhile, California continues to suffer. Will we ever awaken from this ongoing nightmare?
