As the clock struck 1:23 pm on a chilly Friday the 13th outside Chanel’s 57th Street boutique in New York City, a line had already formed of eager fashion enthusiasts waiting to catch a glimpse of Matthieu Blazy’s debut Chanel spring 2026 collection. The “feels like” temperature was a brisk 28 degrees, but that didn’t deter the crowd gathered outside the store.

The buzz surrounding Blazy’s first collection for Chanel has been building momentum since its launch in Paris during Fashion Week. The collection, featuring coveted pieces like the east-west bags and embossed croc pumps, caused a retail frenzy among editors, VIPs, and VICs who flocked to the brand’s boutiques to get their hands on the latest designs.

For those in New York who missed out on the Paris launch, the collection made its exclusive debut at the uptown flagship store on this particular Friday morning. By 1:03 pm, just minutes after the store’s opening time, the line had already stretched down the block, signaling the high demand for Blazy’s creations.

She had set her sights on a pair of shoes and a bag from the collection, with a budget of around $15,000 for her desired items. Jennifer, a 34-year-old accountant, shared her excitement for the mint green and black croc pumps, citing Blazy’s previous work at Bottega Veneta as the reason for her curiosity about his Chanel debut.

While some customers preferred to keep a low profile, many were eager to discuss their love for the revamped Chanel aesthetic under Blazy’s vision. The energy outside the boutique was palpable, with fashion enthusiasts eager to invest in pieces they could cherish for years to come.
