A new health care advocacy group called IndeMed is set to launch on Wednesday, representing the dwindling number of independent doctors in the United States. With a membership of nearly 70,000 doctors expected at its inception, IndeMed aims to address a variety of issues crucial to independent physicians who are looking to resist the trend of consolidation within the healthcare industry.

Among the key priorities on IndeMed’s agenda are easing the burden of prior authorization, advocating for transparent and equitable reimbursement from payers, promoting innovative practice models, opposing consolidation within the healthcare sector, and reforming the No Surprises Act. By tackling these issues head-on, IndeMed hopes to provide a voice for independent doctors and ensure their concerns are addressed at both the federal and state levels.

In addition to its advocacy efforts, IndeMed plans to offer members a comprehensive state-by-state advocacy playbook, providing them with the tools and resources needed to navigate the complex landscape of healthcare policy and regulation. Through its nonprofit arm and associated political action committee, IndeMed will work to drive meaningful change and support the interests of independent physicians across the country.

As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, the role of independent doctors is becoming increasingly important. By uniting under the banner of IndeMed, these physicians can amplify their voices and collectively advocate for policies that support their practice and prioritize the needs of their patients. With a strong policy agenda and a commitment to advocacy, IndeMed is poised to make a significant impact on the future of healthcare in America.
