Letitia James, the New York State Attorney General under indictment, has reportedly hosted her relative, labeled a “fugitive,” at her home in Virginia for the past five years.

Nakia Thompson, the grandniece of the embattled attorney, has been living in James’ three-bedroom Norfolk residence alongside her three children since 2020.

Recent reports indicate that Thompson is classified as an “absconder” and is wanted by Forsyth County, North Carolina officials for not completing her probation, as detailed in court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail.

According to Keith Acree from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, “Ms. Thompson was put on probation for misdemeanor convictions related to assault and battery as well as trespassing, and has intentionally evaded supervision.”

Acree further explained, “An absconder is regarded as a fugitive. If located, Thompson could face arrest in North Carolina,” adding that her offenses are categorized as low-level thus making her “non-extraditable.”

Thompson testified before a grand jury in June, stating that she has been residing in James’ purchased Virginia home, valued at $235,000, rent-free since the Attorney General acquired it, and she has not contributed towards basic maintenance, as reported by The New York Times.

Legal records reveal Thompson was convicted in October 2011 on a count of assault and battery and second-degree trespass, receiving probation as punishment.

She also has prior convictions related to assault/threat against the government and simple assault/affray from 2006 and 2005, respectively.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, absconders may face a probation extension, revocation, or possibly a return to prison.

Meanwhile, Letitia James faces serious allegations, having been indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia on charges of bank fraud and making false statements to secure a mortgage for her property, accusations she has consistently denied.

On Monday, she characterized the indictments from a prosecutor appointed by Trump as politically charged, asserting her resolve to contest the allegations.

“I stand firm on solid ground and will neither bow, break, nor bend,” she declared at a rally supporting left-wing mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

Requests for comment from James’ attorney went unanswered. Additionally, the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Corrections did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Post.
