Jana Kramer has been very transparent about her divorce from her ex-husband, Mike Caussin. However, she made sure to get his approval before sharing everything publicly. On her “Whine Down” podcast episode on Friday, March 13, Kramer revealed that she informed Caussin about what she planned to include in her upcoming book, “The Next Chapter: Making Peace with Hard Memories, Finding Hope All Around Me, and Clearing Space for Good Things to Come―Navigating Heartbreak and Loss with Wisdom.”

According to Kramer, she believes it’s respectful to reach out to people if you’re going to talk about them in a public manner. She joked about telling Caussin that since their book deal about trust fell through, she would instead write about her experiences as a divorcee.

The former couple had previously worked together on a book called “The Good Fight: Wanting to Leave, Choosing to Stay, and the Powerful Practice for Loving Faithfully.” They were supposed to collaborate on a second project about trust when Kramer discovered Caussin’s alleged infidelity, leading to their final split in spring 2021.

Kramer assured Caussin that her book wasn’t about portraying him in a negative light but rather about her journey post-divorce. She mentioned that she refrained from sharing certain details to protect their children and avoid potential conflicts with Caussin.

Despite the sensitive nature of the content, Caussin trusted Kramer’s judgment and agreed that she had been tasteful in her storytelling. Kramer admitted that if Caussin had objected to certain parts of the story, she would have considered making changes, but ultimately, it was her truth.

It’s essential to note that Kramer’s book and podcast discussions focus on her past experiences with Caussin during their marriage and divorce, not his current activities. Kramer emphasized that she’s not interested in discussing Caussin’s present life, only their shared history.

In April 2021, Kramer announced their divorce after nearly six years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had previously separated in 2016 due to Caussin’s infidelity, but they reconciled after he sought treatment for sex addiction.

Kramer and Caussin are now successfully co-parenting their children, Jolie and Jace, despite their differences. Kramer has moved on and is now married to Allan Russell, with whom she shares a son named Roman. She continues to share her journey of healing and growth after her divorce in her book and on her podcast, providing insights into the complexities of relationships and the resilience of the human spirit. A few weeks ago, I made the decision to take massive steps away from him and towards a new future. I knew deep down that everything he did and said in our marriage was because he didn’t love me. Those words confirmed the little voice in my head that had been telling me the truth all along.

It wasn’t easy to come to terms with the fact that the person I had spent so much time with didn’t truly love me. I had ignored the signs for so long, convincing myself that things would get better or that I was just overthinking things. But deep down, I knew the truth.

As I reflect on the past few weeks, I realize that I have been slowly building the courage to walk away from a relationship that was no longer serving me. I had been holding on to a false sense of security, hoping that things would magically improve. But hearing those words was the wake-up call I needed to finally take action.

It’s not easy to start over and rebuild your life from scratch, but I know that I deserve better. I deserve to be with someone who loves and respects me, someone who values me for who I am. I am grateful for the strength I have found within myself to make this difficult decision.

Moving forward, I am focused on creating a new future for myself. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and I am determined to never settle for anything less than I deserve. I am ready to let go of the past and embrace the unknown with open arms.

Leaving him behind was the best decision I could have made for myself. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the growth I have experienced. I am proud of the person I have become and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
