Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s journey to uncover her family history took a significant turn on the latest episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. In the episode that aired on Thursday, June 5, Nicole, 37, alongside her castmate Jenni “JWoww” Farley, delved into the depths of her past by reaching out to her birth mother virtually, with the help of a translator.
Nicole, who was adopted from Chile as a newborn, had always been curious about her roots but had never known any specific details about her biological family. The moment of truth arrived as she anxiously awaited to connect with her birth mother. “For 36 years, I’ve been thinking about this question, and now the answer is going to pop up any second,” Nicole shared in a confessional. “This is insane.”
During the emotional conversation, Nicole bravely asked her birth mother the difficult question, “Why was I put up for adoption?” Her birth mother revealed that she wasn’t prepared to be a parent at the time and was left alone after her partner, Nicole’s father, disappeared when he found out about the pregnancy. Despite the painful decision to give her up for adoption, Nicole’s birth mother expressed her deep regret and apologized for the circumstances that led to that choice.
Through the translator, Nicole’s birth mother conveyed her happiness knowing that Nicole had found a loving family and had built a beautiful life of her own with her husband Jionni LaValle. The translator also shared that Nicole’s birth mother was grateful for the opportunity to connect with her and expressed her love for her daughter.
Nicole and Jionni tied the knot in 2014, after the original Jersey Shore series premiered on MTV, and together they have built a family with three children – sons Lorenzo and Angelo, and daughter Giovanna.
Reflecting on the experience, Nicole shared with Us Weekly that delving into her adoption story on national television was a deeply emotional and vulnerable moment for her. She expressed her hope that her journey would shed light on adoption and inspire others who may be grappling with similar questions about their own origins.
