JuJu Watkins, the star player for USC, is on the road to recovery after tearing her ACL in a NCAA tournament game on March 24. USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb recently spoke to TMZ Sports and provided an update on Watkins’ progress, stating that the 19-year-old is “doing great” in her rehab and approaching her recovery with a laser focus.

Gottlieb emphasized that Watkins is in “focus mode, rehab mode” and is showing positive signs that she will make a full recovery. The typical recovery time for an ACL injury is around 12 months, and Gottlieb made it clear that they will not rush Watkins back to the court before she is fully ready.

Despite Watkins’ injury, there is optimism surrounding the USC program for next year’s March Madness. Gottlieb expressed excitement about the program and team they have built, indicating that they will be back stronger than ever.

However, USC will have to navigate next season without key players like Kiki Iriafen and Rayah Marshall, who were both selected in the recent WNBA draft. While Gottlieb acknowledged the loss of these star players, she expressed pride in seeing them achieve their dreams of playing professionally.

As Iriafen and Marshall transition to the pros, Gottlieb’s advice to them is simple: “They need to go into training camps and be themselves.” Despite the challenges ahead, Gottlieb remains optimistic about the future of the USC program and the resilience of her players.

In conclusion, JuJu Watkins’ recovery is progressing well, and USC is looking towards a bright future despite the setbacks. With a focus on rehabilitation and a strong team foundation, USC is poised to make a comeback in the upcoming season.
