A 6-year-old girl who had been missing for over a month after being kidnapped was rescued by a Kansas highway trooper, who also took two men into custody, authorities revealed on Saturday.
The trooper pulled over an SUV for a traffic violation and discovered that the front-seat passenger had a warrant for his arrest from another state for kidnapping the young girl just over a month earlier, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The trooper noticed a girl matching the description of the kidnapped child inside the vehicle, accompanied by the two men, both in their 60s. The driver also had a criminal record that included homicide and numerous weapons violations.
With the assistance of a local sheriff’s deputy, the trooper secured both men and safely removed the girl from the vehicle. The girl initially provided a false name and date of birth, as she had been coached to do so in an attempt to protect the adults. However, the trooper was able to calm her down and get her to reveal her real identity.
Authorities confirmed that the girl was indeed the kidnapping victim who had been on the run with the suspects for over a month. The girl was unharmed, and both men were taken into custody following the incident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol disclosed to Fox News Digital that the traffic stop took place in February but refrained from sharing further details to safeguard the child’s identity and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
