The talented actress, known for her roles in shows like “Scandal,” revealed her obsession with the queer hockey drama series at the premiere of her new Apple TV show “Imperfect Women” at the Academy Museum. Washington gushed about the show, calling it “some of the greatest television in the most recent decades.”

Washington’s husband, former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha, also shared her enthusiasm for the show. Washington described “Heated Rivalry” as a show about belonging, acceptance, and love, with a spicy edge that keeps viewers hooked. She even recalled a specific episode where she found herself screaming at the television, fully immersed in the drama unfolding on screen.

Asomugha was intrigued by the idea of a football version of “Heated Rivalry,” showing just how impactful the show has been. He was surprised to learn that the series has inspired real-life queer athletes to come out publicly, highlighting the power of art to empower and inspire audiences.

The announcement of a second season of “Heated Rivalry” has fans excited, with filming set to begin this summer. The show has been a hit on HBO Max and Canadian streamer Crave, with Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie returning to reprise their roles as Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.

In her new series “Imperfect Women,” Washington stars alongside Elizabeth Moss and Kate Mara as three best friends dealing with a tragic event that changes their lives. Washington described the characters as messy and flawed, navigating honesty and mistakes in a gripping storyline.
