Self-Driving Trucks Company Kodiak AI Collaborates with Bosch to Develop Autonomous Driving System for Big Rigs

On Monday, Kodiak AI, a leading self-driving trucks company, announced a partnership with global automotive supplier Bosch to create a cutting-edge system of hardware and software that will equip standard big rigs with autonomous driving capabilities. This collaboration was unveiled at the prestigious 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of self-driving technology in the transportation industry.

Kodiak specializes in developing self-driving trucks for various applications, including highway transportation, industrial operations, and defense. The company has already engineered a sophisticated self-driving system that boasts redundant systems for braking, steering, sensors, and computers. In early 2025, Kodiak made headlines when its self-driving trucks successfully completed driverless deliveries for Atlas Energy Solutions in the oil-rich Permian Basin of West Texas and eastern New Mexico.

Following this initial success, Kodiak has delivered a fleet of self-driving trucks to Atlas Energy as part of a larger agreement between the two companies. Roush Industries, a prominent upfitter, collaborated with Kodiak to enhance the driverless trucks delivered to Atlas, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

As part of its strategic growth plan, Kodiak, which went public through a merger with Ares Acquisition Corporation II in September 2025, aims to expand the reach of its autonomous driving technology to a wider range of trucks. The partnership with Bosch will focus on developing redundant platforms that can transform conventional semi trucks, regardless of the manufacturer, into autonomous vehicles.

Bosch will provide Kodiak with a diverse range of hardware components, including sensors and vehicle actuation technologies such as steering systems. These systems can be seamlessly integrated within the vehicle production line or added by a third-party upfitter at a later stage, offering flexibility and scalability for truck manufacturers and fleet operators.

Don Burnette, the founder and CEO of Kodiak, expressed optimism about the collaboration with Bosch, emphasizing the importance of modularity, serviceability, and system-level integration for achieving commercial success in the autonomous driving sector. The partnership aims to streamline the deployment of autonomous driving hardware and enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of self-driving trucks.

Paul Thomas, President of Bosch in North America and Bosch Mobility Americas division, highlighted the growth opportunities presented by the collaboration with Kodiak. He emphasized the importance of providing production-grade hardware to support the next generation of autonomous trucking, showcasing Bosch’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the autonomous mobility ecosystem.

While both Kodiak and Bosch are eager to advance autonomous driving technology and expand their market presence, the timeline for the production and availability of these new systems remains undisclosed. However, the collaboration between these two industry giants signals a new era of innovation and progress in the field of self-driving trucks, promising exciting developments in the near future.
