LA Mayor Karen Bass cancels event at last minute in wake of Palisades fire report

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass abruptly canceled a public appearance following a report accusing her of altering details related to the Palisades fire response.

The mayor was supposed to attend a ribbon-cutting event for a homeless housing development in the San Fernando Valley, but her office announced the cancellation the night before without providing further details.

Her office did not respond to The Post’s request for a comment on the cancellation.

Allegations suggest Bass altered a report to minimize the city and fire department’s failures during the Palisades fire, as reported by the target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Los Angeles Times.

According to reports, Bass modified early versions of the report and instructed to remove critical findings regarding the Fire Department’s deficiencies.

She cautioned the then-interim Fire Chief about potential legal consequences if the unaltered report was made public.

Despite warnings that the alterations could have negative implications for her political career, Bass decided to release her revised version of the report, sources revealed to the Times.
