Former NBA star Lamar Odom is addressing his recent DUI arrest in Las Vegas, vehemently denying that he was under the influence at the time. The 46-year-old, who was pulled over for driving 106 mph, well above the speed limit, and making an improper lane change, insists that he was completely sober during the incident.

In a statement to TMZ Sports, Odom expressed his commitment to personal growth and taking responsibility for his actions. He stated, “I am learning from this experience and remain committed to my continued growth. I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life, and taking responsibility is an essential part of that process. I am cooperating fully, staying honest, and focused on moving forward with integrity. Thank you to those who continue to support me.”

According to reports, officers noticed bloodshot eyes and a marijuana smell in Odom’s car at the time of the arrest. Odom initially claimed that a passenger may have been smoking, but later admitted to smoking “hours earlier.” However, he maintained that he does not regularly smoke marijuana.

Prior to conducting field sobriety tests, officers inquired about Odom’s medical history, including any history of traumatic brain injury. Odom jokingly claimed to have had “12 strokes and six heart attacks,” attributing his condition to being poisoned at a brothel in Pahrump.

During the field sobriety tests, Odom displayed multiple signs of impairment, including swaying, loss of balance, early starts, missed steps, and incorrect estimations of time. Officers noted eyelid tremors, difficulty touching his nose, and inaccurate timekeeping during the tests.

Odom’s recent arrest adds to his well-documented struggles with substance abuse. In 2013, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and in 2015, he faced a life-threatening medical emergency in Nevada after ingesting cocaine and other substances. His then-wife, Khloe Kardashian, stood by his side as he fought for his life.

Despite his past challenges, Odom remains committed to his personal growth and overcoming obstacles. His latest DUI arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and continued efforts towards a healthier lifestyle.
