Legendary F1 race engineer Rob Smedley recently shared insights into Max Verstappen’s mindset, revealing that the Red Bull driver’s ultimate goal is not just to win, but to humiliate his rivals on the track. Smedley, who worked as Felipe Massa’s race engineer at Ferrari and Williams, highlighted Verstappen’s self-motivation and competitive spirit as key drivers of his success.

According to Smedley, Verstappen doesn’t need external motivation as he brings his own drive to be the best and outperform his competitors. The Dutch driver constantly pushes himself to not just beat his rivals, but to establish a significant gap between himself and the next best driver. Smedley emphasized that Verstappen’s mindset is not just about winning, but about dominating and humiliating his opponents in a competitive yet respectful manner.

As the Bahrain F1 test concluded, Max Verstappen reflected on Red Bull’s performance and acknowledged that there is still work to be done to improve the team’s speed and performance. Despite a solid start to the preseason testing, Verstappen highlighted the need for continued hard work and development to be competitive in the upcoming races.

Verstappen also expressed his frustration with the new generation F1 cars, comparing them to Formula E on steroids due to the complex energy management and restrictions on driving flat out. Despite the challenges posed by the new regulations, Verstappen remains determined to overcome obstacles and strive for success on the track.

In conclusion, Max Verstappen’s relentless drive, competitive spirit, and determination to dominate his rivals make him a formidable force in Formula 1. With the new season on the horizon, fans can expect to see Verstappen push boundaries and continue to challenge the status quo in his quest for championship glory.
