As dusk fell on Thursday, a tumultuous group of teenagers overran the scenic Horny Corner beach in the affluent Belmont Shore area of Long Beach, igniting a chaotic fight that resulted in several detentions.

The disorder erupted as the sun set on the first evening of summer vacation for many local students, including those from nearby Woodrow Wilson High, which has an enrollment exceeding 3,300.

Footage from the scene reveals hordes of teens congesting the streets and sandy shores of two popular Southern California beaches, Horny Corner and adjacent Rosie’s Dog Beach.

In the ensuing chaos, teen girls in bikini tops were seen exchanging blows, leading numerous residents to contact law enforcement.

The Long Beach Police Department responded within five minutes of the initial call, arriving with multiple squad cars, lights flashing and sirens blaring, just before 7 p.m.

Upon their arrival, officers began dispersing a crowd of approximately 200 teens gathered at Horny Corner beach, near Ocean Boulevard and Bayshore Avenue, as per the LBPD.

Another altercation erupted a few blocks away near Ocean Boulevard and Termino Avenue, resulting in several teens being detained, according to police.

In a statement to The Post, LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish said the disturbance diverted officers from potentially more critical incidents.

“Large-scale disturbances like this deplete our resources and divert our officers from addressing other safety concerns in Long Beach, including emergency responses,” said Hebeish.

By 9:45 p.m., some juveniles still lingered in the area, police reported. Despite numerous curfew enforcement announcements, the teens were reluctant to disperse.

Five were cited for violating the city’s curfew and were subsequently released to their families.

With the summer season underway, Hebeish stated that law enforcement would “maintain an enhanced presence” at these popular beaches at least through the weekend.

“Any form of violent behavior or law violations will not be tolerated,” Hebeish added.
