BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

In recognition of National Homeownership Month, my Administration reaffirms its commitment to making housing more affordable, enabling young Americans and hardworking families to have a place where they can raise their children, make memories, and plan for their futures.

For an extended period, reckless spending, excessive regulations, and ineffective housing policies led to higher home prices and mortgage rates. This situation was exacerbated by mass illegal immigration and the involvement of large institutional investors, which further strained the housing supply. These factors culminated in a housing affordability crisis, a consequence of the previous administration’s shortcomings. Now, under my leadership, we are addressing these issues and reviving the American Dream of homeownership.

Upon returning to office, I signed an Executive Order aimed at alleviating the financial burden on Americans affected by the left-wing cost-of-living crisis. This marked the beginning of a new era focused on improving supply, affordability, and opportunities for every diligent family in our nation. We are also committed to restoring the integrity of Federal housing programs, ensuring that taxpayer-backed loans benefit law-abiding citizens in need, rather than illegal aliens and fraudsters who hinder more affordable housing options. Additionally, I instructed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to acquire $200 billion in mortgage-backed securities to lower borrowing costs, making homeownership more achievable for our citizens.

Earlier this year, I took decisive measures to prevent large institutional investors from buying single-family homes, thereby keeping more properties available for American families rather than corporations. Through the Stopping Wall Street from Competing with Main Street Homebuyers Executive Order, we prioritized prospective homebuyers, instructing Federal agencies to restrict major corporations from using Government-backed resources to outbid responsible homebuyers. We also harnessed the power of antitrust enforcement to prevent corporate giants from manipulating rents and pricing families out of their neighborhoods. I urge Congress to solidify these changes by passing the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which stands as the most comprehensive housing legislation in our country’s history.

The accomplishments we’ve made for American homeowners and homebuyers are unparalleled, and my Administration remains dedicated to defending and enhancing these achievements. Under my leadership, America will be a nation where homes belong to families, not corporations. We will tirelessly work to ensure that the promise and prosperity of this great nation are realized by every hardworking citizen living in a home they can proudly call their own.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby declare June 2026 as National Homeownership Month.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand this twelfth day of June, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and in the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.

                              DONALD J. TRUMP
