Netflix maintains its affection for “Love on the Spectrum.”
The streaming platform has announced the renewal of the U.S. version of “Love on the Spectrum” for a fifth season, following the successful launch of its fourth season, as Variety exclusively reports.
In its third season, the dating series, which highlights the romantic lives of young adults with autism, secured a spot in the Global Top 10 for two consecutive weeks. This docu-reality series, which also includes two seasons of its Australian counterpart, has garnered several Emmy Awards throughout its run. In 2025, the show was awarded for outstanding unstructured reality program and reality program casting. The series also won two Emmys in 2024 for casting and directing, and three in 2022, including awards for unstructured reality program, casting, and editing.
The seven-episode season includes returning couples and fan favorites such as Madison and Tyler, Connor and Georgie, and James and Shelley. New faces, including Logan from Las Vegas, Dylan from Los Angeles, and Emma from Utah, also join the cast.
Released on April 1 to coincide with Autism Awareness Month, the new season accompanies the cast as they delve deeper into their romantic journeys. Highlights include initial dates, house-hunting, a friendly breakup, and an emotional proposal.
Fan favorite Connor Tomlinson, who has been part of the series for three seasons, informed Variety that he will not be returning for the next season as he transitions to an acting career.
“With humility and a heavy heart, I announce I will not be participating in Season 5,” Tomlinson states. “I believe three seasons are enough to tell my story and find love in my own time.”
He humorously adds, “I’ve decided to pass the torch to the next person who can achieve as much as I have.”
Tomlinson intends to remain active in the entertainment sector. “Don’t worry about me — I’m still going to be in the acting business, especially voice work,” he explains. “I’ve always been a huge fan of animation and would love to be involved with a TV show.”
He expressed his gratitude to the series’ creative team, saying, “I want to sincerely thank Cian, Sean [Bowman, casting producer], and the entire crew for changing my life over the past three years.”
Netflix hosted the show’s official FYC event on Friday evening for this year’s Primetime Emmys, screening the finale and holding a Q&A session. The discussion was moderated by “Heated Rivalry” star François Arnaud and featured executive producer and creator Cian O’Clery, along with cast members Madison, Tyler, Connor (and his mother Lise).
Celebrated for its insightful and heartfelt storytelling, the series continues to connect with audiences globally. Cian O’Clery and Karina Holden serve as executive producers, with Northern Pictures handling production.
