Lydia Ko recently participated in the 2025 Maybank Championship in Malaysia, held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club West Course. The tournament featured 78 golfers competing for a prize pool of $3 million. Ko put on an impressive performance, finishing tied for ninth place with a total score of 16-under par.

Despite being just two shots behind the eventual winner, Ko reflected on her experience in Malaysia in a recent Instagram post. She mentioned the hot weather in the country but expressed her gratitude for the love and support from fans during the event.

Ko’s performance at the championship started strong with a round of 66 on the first day, followed by a 70 on the second day to make the cut. She then maintained consistency with two rounds of 68 over the weekend. In the end, Miyu Yamashita emerged as the winner, defeating Hye-Jin Choi and Hannah Green in the playoffs.

The tight leaderboard raised questions about the course’s difficulty, prompting Ko to address the matter after the second round. She emphasized the importance of strategic play, especially considering the dry conditions of the course. Ko highlighted the significance of tee shots and the need for a strategic approach from the beginning.

During a post-round news conference, Ko discussed the course further, noting that the dry conditions allowed tee shots to go further. She emphasized the need for strategic decision-making off the tee, regardless of the course’s length. Ko also mentioned that momentum played a crucial role in performing well on the course.

Overall, Ko praised the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club West Course as a great venue for golf and highlighted the importance of strategic play and momentum in achieving success. Her insights provide valuable tips for aspiring golfers looking to navigate challenging courses effectively.
