A frightening incident occurred on the South Side overnight as a man was stabbed and seriously injured during an argument aboard a Red Line train. This disturbing event marks at least the second stabbing reported on the city’s train lines over the weekend.

The incident took place at the 69th Street platform around 2:52 a.m., where officers found a 34-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck and chest. He was quickly transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

In response to the situation, police shut down the 69th Street station to preserve the crime scene on the platform. Additionally, a southbound Red Line train was taken out of service and moved to the 95th Street yard so evidence technicians could process a second crime scene inside one of the rail cars.

A witness reported that the assailant fled the area by boarding a northbound train. As of now, no suspect description has been released, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

This stabbing incident comes on the heels of another tragic event on Saturday morning, where a 37-year-old man was found fatally stabbed aboard a Blue Line train at the Clark-Lake station in the Loop. Authorities were unsure of where that stabbing actually occurred.
